Letter from the President
1/9/04

Wow! What a wonderful way to start a new year – stitching and sharing! Thanks to Mady, Genia, Laura, Lauri, Marilyn, Lorena, Kathleen, Donna W., Christina, Beth, Cassandra, Kathy, Sharon, Donna J., Dallas, and Alana for sharing your enthusiasm and your wonderful projects with us all.

Thank you very much Mady for leading us through 2003! I look forward to leaning on your expertise in the coming year.

Finally, thanks to the officers for keeping your “jobs.” I look forward to working with: Lorena, Secretary; Marilyn, Treasurer; Donna J, Membership; Kathleen, Librarian; and Genia, Website Manager and Program Chair. In addition, thanks to Sharon for insuring that we have a place to meet and Donna R. for collecting and maintaining the membership roster.

Now, down to business:
Meeting time and room
Our meetings will start promptly at 7:30 and end at 9:00. They will be held in the youth room of Ensor Hall, lower level. Park in the lot on the side of the church and enter through the door by the playground.

Membership
Dues -- $15 per year payable in December at the annual holiday party. If you haven’t already, please send your check payable to Maryland Metro Knitters to: Marilyn Riffkin contact her at mriffkin@juno.com for making your payment.

Members wanted – let’s keep this dynamic group growing by promoting it as often as possible!!!

Programs
February – we will be making socks!!! As a “newbie” (MMK member, knitter, and sock maker) I am really excited about Lauri’s program. I have already downloaded the pattern (http://www.cosy-place.com/htm/34.html) and bought my supplies (size 6 and 8 double points and 2 skeins of Woolese – blue/green of course!). And, one day soon I hope to start work on my homework by using a stretchy cast on and knitting the ribbing and leg. Lauri plans to focus on the heel and gussets.

January thru December – we managed to pick a program for most months. Genia is in the process of finalizing the list.

Things to think about
Do we want a mini-retreat, a weekend retreat, or a picnic?
Should we have a specific program each month, or is an occasional “Stitching and Sharing” night O.K.?

Guild Projects
INKnitters Reversible Stitches article – Lauri is still collecting swatches for this article, which she will co-author with Mady. Please contact Lauri at lgbkatz@intr.net if you would like to make a swatch.

Miscellaneous
Bass Pro Shop tackle bags update – I went on an unsuccessful search for something similar in Annapolis at Boater’s World (Harbor Center) and Angler’s (Route 50). While they had tackle boxes, they were at least twice as expensive and not cool at all! So, I guess I will be visiting the Bass Pro Shop at Arundel Mills very soon. I will be buying the smaller size for myself, even though Sharon’s super deluxe model is rather impressive!
